This beautiful solid Iroko front door had ‘seen a few seasons’ and was really starting to tire. The surface was thoroughly cleaned using liquid strippers, steel wools and neutralising with methylated spirits. It was hand sanded and real care is needed sanding these rich hardwoods as they can quickly go ‘patchy’ in colour if sanded too deeply or unevenly. The finish was 2 coats of a exterior Osmo oil offering superb weather protection (as well as containing anti fungicidals and UV protection). It really enhances the gorgeous richness of the iroko grain and figuring (bring on Mother Nature)
